My name is Jennifer Rubin, I’m 22 years old, and I founded the organization Rockin’ 4 Relief when I was 12 years old.
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that raises money for families of police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics who were killed in the line of duty. Every year, volunteers are sent to gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores to rock in a rocking chair for 10 hours straight and collect money from customers who walk by. Since 2009, we have raised $164,000 including a $13,000 donation from Oprah Winfrey! I host this event once a year in St. Louis and once a year in Cape Girardeau. Last year between the two cities, we raised $30,000. This year, if we raise $36,000, we will hit $200,000 for our 10th Anniversary!
We are going to be at the following locations on October 20th:
Bi State N Kingshighway
Bi State S Sprigg
Chick Fil A
Ground A Bout
Lemonade House Grille
Mkay
Save a Lot Cape
Save a Lot Sikeston
Subway Carondalet

We strongly encourage people to stop by one of our locations to show their support!
We also have a grand finale at Wings Etc in Cape at 9pm. Here, first responders will fill up the parking lot and set off their lights and sirens when our last volunteer stands up!
